Modern and Contemporary Pictures Plus Antiquarian Books in W1

We’re very excited about our new exhibition in the heart of London this Christmas; this time it’s in the beautiful and elegant shop of Shapero Rare Books (32 St George Street, London W1S 2EA).  We’ve joined forces with Bernard Shapero from 5-20 December to offer The Winter Show, an eclectic and interesting mix spanning antiquarian books, prints and modern and contemporary art.

In a nutshell: Bernard is internationally known for antiquarian travel and natural history books and prints; we are now concentrating on original works (at affordable prices) by major artists such as Mary Fedden, Keith Vaughan, John Piper, Sandra Blow and Philip Sutton but we will also have a selection of decorative pieces by artists who are known, but not yet household names! Adding the final ingredient is Gerry Defries, the successful accountant-by-day-and-artist-by-night, who will be exhibiting his latest paintings of Hampstead Heath, Norfolk and the south of France.

By the way, we are also showing Andy Warhol’s charming 20 hand-coloured lithographs In the Bottom of my Garden (complete with signature and stamp of authentication), which we have decided to offer individually, or as a set if you hurry! Each has been beautifully framed and this is a great opportunity not only to acquire an early piece by one of the cult artists of the 20th century, but also any of the images you take home is almost guaranteed to make you smile all year!

Conveniently situated between Regent Street and Bond Street, our show at 32 St George’s Street is well placed for seasonal shopping, so do drop in and have a look around, as we hope to offer something for all tastes and most pockets!
