A Summer Selection

We have carefully selected some of our favourite paintings evocative of summer, spanning the South of France, Tuscany and Cornwall.

Blue Boats by the Catalan artist Carlos Nadal(1917-1998) beautifully encapsulates a Mediterranean summer.  In one of his obituaries this award winning artist was referred to as 'the last wild expressionist of Spain' (the Independent) and is considered to be one of the last artists directly connected to the original Fauve painters.

La Terrazza by Fairon

Known simply as Fairon this artist from Rome trained as an architect and now paints mainly in Tuscany.  Painted in oil on board with a beautiful hand carved bleached frame, La Terrazza depicts a terrace with table laden with freshly picked fruit and vegetables, the ubiquitous basil plant and climbing flowers all bathed in a soft dappled summer light.

Godrevy Girl by Alan Furneaux

Alan Furneaux is a contemporary naive artist working in Cornwall.  Godrevy Girl is painted in oil on canvas and is typical of his idiosyncratic, charming and witty view of life.
